We are very pleased to be part of the 10th International Master of Wine symposium in Wiesbaden. Austrian Wine has long been an enthusiastic supporter of IMW and has worked with many of you to promote Austrian wines around the globe. With success: Austrian wines now have global reputation for their freshness, minerality and elegance, as well as for the particularly environmentally conscious methods used in their production. Over the past decades, their popularity has grown tremendously with wine aficionados around the world; be it the country’s flagship wine Grüner Veltliner, distinct Rieslings or Sauvignon Blancs or autochthonous white treasures such as Gemischter Satz, Rotgipfler or Roter Veltliner.
In addition, Austria’s reds have become rising stars, such as Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch or St. Laurent, not to mention our sparkling elite or our world-class sweet wines. As artisanal products crafted by our winemakers with a special link to their land and the environment, all of these wines consistently demonstrate their uniquely fresh character and potential at international tastings. We have selected some excellent Austrian white, red, sparkling and sweet wines for your IMW lunch, in order to give you a representative overview. Because as you know: Austria’s wines are also a perfect match for a wide array of 140 dishes and culinary styles. Medium-bodied and vibrant, they support the food rather than overpowering it – and they pick you up, rather than weighing you down.
