Description

Château de Chambert" is the historic wine of the Chateau, a 100% Malbec from old vines.

This wine is aged 12 months in 3,000 litre oak casks to achieve a perfect balance of fruit, delicate tannins, vibrant acidity and a delicate spice of French oak. It is a wine that can easily age for 15-20 years, depending on the vintage.

All biodynamic and organic Grape: 100% Malbec Altitude : 297m Chambert is located on the upper plateau of AOC Cahors and has a high diurnal temperature range (15-20 degrees usually, sometimes even higher ).

Soil type: limestone (Kimmeridgian), clay and iron (Siderolithic), brown clay and limestone.

Vinification

Machine and manual harvesting. De-stemmed and hand sorted. Vinification by parcel in concrete tanks (most around 65-80 hl) Indigenous yeast Fermentation temperature controlled within 25-30°C Cap management: combination of very gentle pump-overs and plunging Total time on skins: 15-20 days (varies with vintage)

Malolactic fermentation: Malolactic fermentation: non-inoculated and carried out in barrel.
