About
The Höhnstedter Kreisberg is one of the northernmost German wine-growing areas. A model vineyard was planted here in 1920 to familiarize the winegrowers around with the new type of grafted vines. For this, the administration of the Mansfeld Lake District bought this mountain, which has been called Kreisberg ever since. Its microclimate is determined by the süßen See and the direct influence of the Harz landscape. Thanks to the mixture of red sandstone soils with slate, loess and loam, his wines are straightforward and have a mineral touch. When dry, spicy-herbal notes are in the foreground.
