Description

The site has a slightly sloping southerly exposure within the boundaries of Erbach. It was first mentioned in the 13th century and in the first survey of Rheingau sites in 1867 it was classified as top quality. Heavy loess, loam and calcareous soils of marl with sand ensure a perfect nutrient supply. Mercilessly dry, this Grand Cru Riesling shows lime and gooseberry aromas and yet light herbal notes. Firm structure with linear flow on the palate, great minerality and after 5-6 years notes of petrol develop. This Riesling can mature for decades before even getting close to its full glory.

Vineyard: Erbacher Marcobrunn

The "Marcobrunn" vineyard is slightly inclined to the south in the district of Erbach. Its name goes back to the 13th century and refers to a well on the boundary between Erbach and Hattenheim. The approximately 6.7 hectares of vineyards are planted exclusively with Riesling, which finds optimum growing conditions here.

The Erbacher Marcobrunn stands proud on the international stage and is one of the most esteemed top locations in Germany. The body, power and structure of the wines are in perfect harmony with their mineral freshness and elegance.
