Analytical data
Vineyard: Bopparder Hamm
The name "in der weingruben" is documented as early as the 16th century, referring to a vine-covered mountain cutting. The rather uneven Weingrube site begins in the mountain incision through which the Petersbach flows and then stretches from an altitude of about 160 m above sea level above the Mandelstein, Feuerlay and Ohlenberg sites. This part of the vineyard faces south west to south, at 160-210 m above sea level and about 150-200 m from the Rhine. The average gradient here is around 45%, although there are of course much steeper sections in the site.
Soil Type
The geological formations Singhofen strata are found in the Weingrube. The resluting soil conditions are correspondingly complex, but in terms of area, loamy debris dominates over 70 cm of slate rock (leading soil type 3.2), the most common vineyard soil in the Middle Rhine.
Vinification
The hand-picked Pinot Blanc grapes were transported very gently and pressed without pumping. The must was left to sediment overnight and the clear juice was fermented under temperature control. Lactic acid bacteria were added at the end of the alcoholic fermentation in order to initiate the malolactic fermentation.
Maturation
24 months sur lie.
