Vineyard
A warm vintage with full and intense fruit and tannins. This is a mix between elevated sites of loess and, to a lesser extent, warmer valley floors with stony soils.
Yield: 32 hl/ha
Soil Type
About a quarter of this wine comes from the Rocks District, the remainder is from the elevated sites that are cooler and are generally silt loam, loess above a layer of caliche.
Vinification
Standard vinification, crushed and destemmed, pumped twice daily, native yeast fermentations, native malolactic conversions.
Maturation
Aged 18 months in French oak barriques, 25% new.
Oak influence: We utilize only "lower toast" and "medium toast" barrels for a lighter touch to the toast, only a quarter are new.
Months in bottle: 24
