Description

Deep in colour with purple hues. Intense aroma that combines notes of red and black fruits such as black cherries, cassis and figs, with hints of vanilla and chocolate. Great structure, complexity and elegance.

Vineyard: Maipú

The grapes were grown in Maipú, Mendoza, at 650 m above sea level.

Soil Type

Maipu is located toward the east of Mendoza, a mountain desert with warm days and cool nights. These are the original vineyards belonging to the Zuccardi family in Maipu and were 27 years old at the time of the 2004 vintage. The clay soils give the wine firm, structured tannins.

Harvest Notes

First week of April.

Vinification

The grapes are harvested manually in plastic boxes of 18 kg. Subsequent selection of bunches and berries before crushing. Pre-fermentative cold maceration. Classic fermentation with selected yeasts. Maceration on the grape skins, the pomace, for about 20 days. Complete malolactic fermentation. Subsequent maturation in medium toasted, new French oak barrels for 12 months. Natural clarification. Gentle filtration before bottling.
