About
Moorilla Estate was one of the first wineries in Tasmania, started by Claudio Alcorso in 1958, with Riesling being the first vines planted. Purchased by David Walsh in 1995, along with the St Matthias vineyard and later in 2018, the Domaine A winery and accompanying Stoney Vineyard. Moorilla makes small-batch, cool-climate wines from estate-grown fruit, and is a leader in what is now one of the world's great cool-climate wine regions. Conor van der Reest favours structural wines with new-world fruit and old-world complexity, showcasing the varied terroir of Moorilla's three vineyards.
